Get Involved

We need your help!

St. Joseph’s Parish Family is able to do great things for Jesus Christ because of the generosity with which our members share their time, talent, and treasure. If you feel that God is calling you to join our mission in any capacity, please contact either the parish office or the particular contact for the ministry you’re interested in as indicated in the list below:

Assistance During Mass

Is God calling you to use your gifts to serve in some capacity during Mass? At St. Joseph’s, there are different roles that parishioners can help fulfill:

Eucharistic Ministers: those entrusted with the honour and responsibility of assisting the Priest in distributing the most Precious Body and Blood of our Lord.

Lectors: those entrusted with the proclamation of the Word of the Lord

Ushers/Hospitality Ministry: those responsible for making our parish a warm, welcoming place by greeting and assisting all who gather for Sunday Mass, particularly those who are new or require special assistance.

If you would like to sign up for one or more of the above ministries, please contact the parish office at 905-945-2661.

This dedicated group of volunteers are Eucharistic Ministers who bring Communion to those who are homebound. They also conduct Communion Services in our local retirement and nursing homes. For more information or to volunteer for this ministry, please contact the parish office.

Facilities and Care

Our Parish grounds and building are kept up by a combination of volunteer and professional men and women. If you are particularly gifted or able and interested in helping in this way, please contact the parish office and inquire about how you can get involved. Some examples include our Property Committee, Watering Plants, and the Laundering of Linens.

Service and Giving

Our parish family responds to Christ’s commission to serve Him in the ‘disguise of the poor’,  and we organize opportunities for members like yourself to join our efforts. We are proud to partner with organizations like Grimsby Benevolent Fund, Grimsby Life Centre, and Good Shepherd Ministries by gathering as fellow parishioners and offering our time, talent and treasure to their various noble causes. For more information about how to get involved in one or more of these endeavours, please contact the parish office or the respective organization directly.

This group in our parish is dedicated to raising funds to assist our brothers and sisters in the Third World. Of equal importance is their mandate to educate us all about the ways in which we can help our neighbours to develop their own potential. Contact Mike Visschedyk at 905-945-1289 or email [email protected] to become a part of this Ministry.

The mission of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is to live the Gospel message by serving Christ in the poor, with love, respect, justice and joy. If you would like to learn more about this ministry or are aware of someone who could use a helping hand, please call Bruce Wallace at 905-945-2876.

PEROGIES Fundraiser

This is a group of volunteers that gather to make homemade perogies as a fundraising enterprise that makes generous contributions to our church each year. If you are up for some hard work, fun, and can lend a few hours to help assemble perogies, please contact Tracy at the parish office.
